The Akashic Records and the Human Spirit 

The Akashic Records would only make sense if you understood the ‘reason for being’ of human life itself. The Akashic Records confirm the existence of a ‘center’ in the broadest meaning of the world.

Something holds together everything else - and according to the Holy Scripture, it is God that is at the very center of the universe and the creation of life. Before one can correctly interpret the Akashic Records, one must be aware that every spirit has been created for a purpose but that does not mean that the human spirit is devoid of free will. This is farthest from the truth.

In fact, the very first gift that God had given every human spirit was free will. Free will is the ability of the human spirit to grow and transform itself as it sees fit. This liberty in the spiritual sense is also called spiritual expression. The concept of ‘finding one’s self’ is perfect to describe the free will bestowed upon every human spirit that has ever existed.

Transformation & Unification

What happens after free will has been bestowed upon the human spirit? The spirit must know go through life itself, which is essentially a world full of experiences and most importantly, choices. The concept of free will is tied integrally to making choices.

One’s personal choices in life are not made in a vacuum. One cannot say that one choice made ten years ago did not affect one’s present reality. Every choice leads to another situation that requires yet another choice, which then produces another event that requires another decision, and so on.

While often difficult, this life full of choices is what allows individual beings to remain free beings who are capable of expressing themselves as they see fit.

Our spiritual self has a dualistic nature - we are distinct entities from God but we are still part of God regardless of our distinctness. This distinctness is only possible because of free will.

As the human spirit transforms with the help of worldly experiences and choices, it comes closer and closer to the ultimate goal of being reunited with God.

The Universe and all that is within it is made up of energy. The Potentiality of Existence

The concept of energy is also important when one is studying the potentialities of life. Potentiality in the context of the Akashic Records is the possibility of movement within the Universe, using the free will bestowed upon the human spirit.

Man’s free will can be likened to potential energy - infinite and limitless in its scope. However, free will and energy can only help a person’s growth if intention is present. Different intentions produce different results - which is why reading the Akashic Records is vital to remedying long-standing life problems. Because we are not always completely aware of our full intentions until after we are able to review the emotions involved and the deed itself.

As you may have already read elsewhere, man’s physical existence really is a never ending chain of choices. One choice leads to another choice, and so on. Cause & effect is the driving force behind these choices, as well as one’s desires and intentions.

The Akashic Records are important for spiritual growth because it helps a person realize potentialities in the present time. Other spiritual concepts like reincarnation do not dwell on past lives, not really.

What past lives offer are simply the possibilities of action that one can finally realize in one’s present life. Focusing on what can be achieved in the ‘now’ directly contributes to the transformation of one’s physical and spiritual life.

One good example of how proper readings of the Akashic Records can lead to personal growth is chronicled in one of Edgar Cayce’s own psychic readings. In one reading of a woman, Cayce noted that the woman has been incarnated several times throughout the centuries.

She had lived in Colonial America as well as in Persia. In Cayce’s present time, the woman was a career woman living in the United States. According to Cayce, many facets and talents of the woman had been acquired through her experiences in her past lives but these facets, talents and tendencies are not fixed or unchanging.

For example, it was found that the woman sometimes preferred being alone or away from family, friends or colleagues. According to Cayce, this tendency can be used positively (e.g. resting or rejuvenation after a long day’s work) or negatively (e.g. becoming completely aloof, which may lead to selfish desires). As you can see, one’s past life has little bearing on one’s present intention. If a person does not act upon positive tendencies that have been revealed through a reading of the Akashic Records, then nothing will happen - no personal or spiritual growth will occur.
