The Akashic Records (also known as the Heavenly Library or the Book of Life) can be likened to a massive super-computer system of the entire Universe and the entire human race.

The Akashic Records contain every detail of every life that has existed on the earthly plane - and beyond. The Akashic Records contain not just the events that transpired for each person, but also every thought, word and deed. What is in the Akashic Records?

According to Helena Blavatsky, a Russian psychic who lived from 1831 to 1891, the Akashic Records are more than just unchanging records of human events. It is creative and dynamic in nature and indeed has a large influence upon present events.

Blavatsky also describes the Akashic Records as being the very core or essence of all types of energy, whether it be physical energy, psychic energy or even spiritual energy. According to her, within the Akashic Records are the very seeds of creation, which are activated by the will of the Divine Spirit.

The Realities in the Spiritual World

Another psychic, Austrian-born Rudolf Steiner (who is a philosopher-educator by trade) claims that the Akasha Records or the “Akasha Chronicles” allow any person to see the origins of all things that have existed on Earth. The origins of all events, things and persons cannot be destroyed by worldly time as we perceive it.

The Akasha Chronicles, according to Steiner, can only be perceived via the spiritual plane or spiritual world. This spiritual world exists regardless of one’s beliefs.

Steiner states that once a person becomes adept in perceiving the Akasha Chronicles, the duality of human cognition comes into play. The perceptive person is no longer trapped in physical reality - he can now see both physical and spiritual realities as they transpire. Spiritual and physical become two sides of a coin we call life.

Steiner also touches upon the concept of history when he talks about the Akashic Records. He says that physical reality only produces transitory history. The Akashic Records provide non-transitory history of all individuals, regardless of time, place and origin. If one wishes to glean wisdom about past events, the Akashic Records is capable of providing the eternal character of these past events.

Man was aware that a Heavenly Library or Book of Life existed - and the Akashic Records were mentioned in both Western and Eastern mythology. Even the Old Testament and the New Testament made mention of the Akashic Records (though it was not called as such). The term ‘Akashic’ came from the Sanskrit word “akasha” which meant boundless time and space.

Historically, Semitic, Phoenician and even Babylonians believed that celestial tablets existed, where the hand of God wrote everything that transpires on Earth. This is the earliest recorded awareness of man of the Akashic Records. In addition to historical information, it was also believed that these heavenly tablets also contained spiritual information.

In the Bible, the first mention of the Akashic Records can be found in the Book of Exodus, in Chapter 32, verse 32. This section of the Book of Exodus chronicled the story of Moses and the Israelites, who have fallen to worshiping a false god made of gold - the Golden Calf.

Every time the Israelites did something to displease the will of God, Moses was there to save them. Only this time, Moses pleaded that the Israelites be spared a horrible fate even if it meant that his name be stricken off the Book that God has written. This sacrifice was offered as a recompense for the horrible deeds that the Israelites have done.

In the Book of Psalms, King David also mentioned that God had already written down facts about his life - good deeds and bad deeds included. In Judeo-Christian mythology, the existence of a Book of Life was associated heavily with the concept of Salvation or the Day of Judgment.

The creation of such a myth or image in the larger corpus of Judeo-Christian mythology may have been connected to the fact that census-taking was already existent during the early empires. It is said that on the Day of Judgment, the Book of Life shall be opened.

The Book of Life was said to contain all the names of people from all times and places who were worthy of divine salvation. The Book of Daniel, Chapter 7, Verse 10 and the Book of Revelations, Chapter 20, Verse 12 both made mention of these details regarding the Book of Life.

Interestingly, it appears that the symbolism connected with the Book of Life has a logical precursor. According to many cultural historians, throughout history cultures placed great importance on one’s name. One’s name was tied to one’s existence - so if a name for example was removed or stricken out of an official record (say, from a ruling political body) then that was tantamount to having not existed at all.

Edgar Cayce is one of world’s most popular contemporary psychics. He is known best for his ability to produce answers for seemingly impossible or improbable questions, such as a person’s health condition or the location of mythic places.

Cayce is able to do this by going into a trance state (self-induced). He too believed in the existence of the Akashic Records and was able to use the Heavenly Library to carry out specific readings for people. He calls the Akashic Records the reservoir of heavenly memories.

Cayce’s Journey to the Akashic Records

Edgar Cayce wrote countless accounts of his journeys to the Heavenly Library. The following is a summary of his first-hand account of how he is able to access and use the Akashic Records during psychic readings:

Phase 1. First, Edgar Cayce would induce an O.B.E. or out of body experience. From his statements, it appears that he is engaging in astral travel, because he sees himself as a tiny dot that actually leaves his physical body behind.

Phase 2. As he leaves his physical body, Edgar Cayce begins to travel (presumably in the astral plane) and darkness begins to shroud him, signaling that he is indeed moving through spiritual space. It is during this time, he says, that he begins to feel very alone. E.C.’s awareness is immense during these O.B.E.s.

Phase 3. Suddenly, his detached self becomes aware of a beam of light in the distance.

Phase 4. He follows the beam of light and it leads him to a space where several levels of existence are present. The first level, according to Cayce, is inhabited by ghastly shapes that one usually finds in nightmares. The second level of existence is inhabited by deformed human beings with irregularly sized body parts. After the second level, he sees hooded beings coming closer and closer to him. Gray in color, these shrouded entities seem to be guarding the Akashic Records.

Phase 5. As Cayce passes the gray, shrouded entities, other beings come into the picture, but these beings have robes that are lighter and less ominous than the first group’s robes. The direction of the beam of light changes, it moves upward and the path of the beam of light is guarded by robed beings with increasingly lighter and lighter colored robes.

Phase 6. Cayce finally finds himself in a plane where there are trees and houses - normal things that we find in living reality. Yet there is no movement or obvious signs of life in this plane - just structures, colors and images that we can say that came from our physical reality. Sound gradually begins to form in this plane of existence (Cayce says that the sounds are quite pleasant to the ears).

Phase 7. He arrives at what he calls the hall of records. The hall of records is not bound structurally - there are no visible floors, walls or even a roof. But this plane is a hall of records, nonetheless. Cayce states that he becomes aware of the presence of an old man that hands him a book - an Akashic Record - of the person for whom he is performing the psychic reading for.

The Reading 

From this point onward, Edgar Cayce states in the physical plane (or in our reality) that he now has the records of the person and begins an enlightened psychic reading using the information that he is able to glean from the Akashic Records. Cayce then proceeds to select which parts of the Akashic Records would be most helpful for the present psychic reading.

The Akashic Records are by no means limited to people who have an in-born or natural psychic ability. Nor is it merely an object of fancy for those who have taken a liking for the occult or supernatural. The Akashic Records exist, whether we like it or not. Often, people are suspicious or extremely skeptical of a concept that immediately involves their lives and life-experiences regardless of one’s belief.

To answer this skepticism, we shall attempt to explore the nature of the Akashic Records and how living breathing beings can actually access these heavenly records without having to practice anything remotely ‘magical’ or ‘supernatural’ - because nothing could be more natural than what preceded physical reality - the spiritual world.

Vibration attunement is based on the theory that every human emotion, deed, thought and event requires energy in order to be produced.
